Background

Established in 2014, MIPIM UK is the sister show to the highly successful Cannes event and is the UK’s largest property, conference and exhibition. The leading property summit for all key stakeholders in UK real estate, the event attracts more than 3,000 developers, investors and advisers. Visitors can attend more than 50 conferences and events and listen to180 speakers who are experts in the property industry.

Held each year in The National Hall, Olympia, we have worked with international events organiser Reed Midem since the show’s launch. We provide integrated event services, traditional shell schemes, bespoke design and installation services for seminar theatres and feature areas.  We are also the approved electrical services provider within the venue.

This year’s event was staged between 17-18 October and offered insights into the big issues for the UK property market at a time of unprecedented social, economic and political change.

Objective

Reed MIDEM’s objective was to maintain the show’s standing as the UK’s largest property event, despite uncertainty in the sector created by Brexit.

We were briefed to provide traditional shell scheme stands with muslin ceiling, electrical lighting and power package based on shell stand area. We designed and a constructed a number of feature areas - theatres and meeting zones - based on individual specification, as well as providing individually specified power supplies to the various zones.

As in previous years, we liaised closely with Reed MIDEM’s office in France, as well as with the firm’s London-based Operations
Manager Jessamy Ganesh to ensure informed decisions could be made quickly for the smooth running of the show.

Strategy

Planning well ahead of the show, our experience of the event gained over the previous four years meant we could build in the required flexibility for the build and breakdown to ensure a seamless show.

We liaised with the venue for early access the day before the show to facilitate timely unloading of the shell scheme and distribution around the site. Once in place, the shell scheme was decorated on-site.

The conference and seminar side of the show continues to grow.  In line with the previous year’s requirements, we designed and a number of feature areas including the Media Corner and an Information Point with colour changing LED lighting. This year, we supplied walls and graphics for three colour coded theatres, the Blue Room, Red Room and the new Purple Room.

As in previous years, we created furniture layouts for each feature area, working collaboratively with furniture suppliers JMT and Concept Furniture to ensure the furniture worked within our layouts. Comprehensive planning over the months leading up to the event ensured that all areas of the show could be serviced effectively and efficiently.

Result

We are proud of our long-standing relationships with Reed Midem, working in partnership with the inhouse team to create the fifth consecutive successful MIPIM show.

Our flexibility and forward-planning contributed once again to the show’s success by ensuring all work was completed efficiently and within the agreed timescales. This reliability is a key tenet of our business and ensures we enjoy long term partnerships with our clients.

Andrew Manby, Director at Joe Manby Limited, said: “We were delighted to be event services partner to Reed Midem for this flagship event for the property sector for the fifth consecutive year.  Reed Midem is the organiser of exhibition, conference and networking events internationally and it’s a well-earned recognition of the professionalism of our business that they’ve chosen to work with us again this year.”
